Ouch! Comedian Kevin Hart referred to himself as the “stupidest man alive” and that he is in a wheelchair after he attempted to race former NFL star, Stevan Ridley.
In a post on his Instagram account on Wednesday, Hart, 44, explained that he injured multiple muscles and that he is currently in a wheelchair and can't walk temporarily after he ran a 40-foot dash against former NFL running back Stevan Ridley. Ridley, 34, was a third-round pick in the 2011 NFL Draft and spent the majority of his career with the New England Patriots.
During a debate between the comedian and the former NFL player about who was faster, the two agreed to race each other, which resulted in Hart sustaining an injury.
The video begins with Hart in high spirits saying, “To all my men and women out there that are 40 years old and above. It’s not a game, respect that age.” He later reveals that he is sitting in a wheelchair. As he continued, he said, "I am in a wheelchair. Why? Well, because I tried to jump out there and do some young stuff.”
Hart explained that he had torn his lower abdomen as well as his hip abductors during the race. He continued to joke and stated “I don’t know what that is but I tore them, I tore those, too. I can’t walk.”

Following the incident, Hart revealed that he plans to "sit down" as he questioned his commitment to race Ridley in the first place, stating he had to be the "stupidest man alive" at the time as he continued to question why he was so determined to race him.
He also joked about racing anytime in the near future and said “...tell you what you just lost, son. You just lost every opportunity of me going to racing you anytime soon. It’s over.”
Additionally, Hart took the time to use this video to make a PSA for anyone who is 40 and over. "Ladies and gentlemen, the age 40 is real," Hart said.
While he continues to joke about the incident, Ridley also took the time to hop on his Instagram account to continue to poke fun at the actor. In a now-deleted post, Ridley said “SAW @TOMBRADY DO IT AT YOUR AGE SO I FIGURED YOU HAD THE JOICE TOO BIG BRO! MY BAD @KEVINHARTFOREAL! HEAL UP AND PEEKP MAKING US ALL LAUGH!”
Many other celebrities have voiced their support for Hart including actor Will Smith who commented “Getting older is REAL!! Heal Up, Kev!!”
Former NFL star Terrell Owens also jokingly commented and said “All that training you and ‘your trainer’ the “BOSS” be doing?!! 😂😂😂 That should have NEVER happened. Yo @kevinhart4real. Frfr! Hit me. I have a connect with a laser to help with the healing process.”
Former NBA player Matt Barnes also joined the conversation in Hart’s Instagram comments, giving him some praise for his athleticism before the race. “😂😂😂 that was a hell of a day. You need to put some spinners on your wheelchair 😂💀 Your jumper was on that day tho @kevinhart4real 😂.”

Hart’s frequent co-star Dwayne The Rock Johnson is the top comment on the post right now and said “[I] tore my adductor off my pelvis during a wrestling match. True story. You’ll be fine.”
Kevin is right, aging can impact our mobility and endurance. The good news is that there are many ways you can maintain the flexibility and mobility you have as you age in order to avoid injuries such as these. Our best wishes to Kevin as he recovers fully and continues to joke and laugh as much as he can!
