Yeah, baby, we like it raaaaaaw! Apparently, Lenny Kravitz does, too. The rockstar hasn’t cooked in two months and his new raw diet looks good on him.
Lenny suspended time when he dropped a Facebook photo of himself perched on a kitchen counter looking delicious – apparently surrounded by some invisible fruits and vegetables – and captioned it, “100% raw for two months now. Amazing for one’s health and the environment. #rawfood“.
Amazing, indeed.
There’s a Dr. Sebi quote, “You can’t heal an electric body with dead food,” and since Lenny’s body is giving us life right now, I’m going to say there’s something to this raw food lifestyle.

As the name suggests, a raw food diet consists of fresh, whole, plant-based foods consumed in their “raw” natural state. No cooking or steaming. Fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, leafy greens – everything is eaten in its ‘living’ state.
Before going full raw the “American Woman” singer has been into his health for years and is a known juicer. He recently told Men’s Fitness magazine, “I have a Champion juicer with me at all times.”I’ll hit the organic market or the farmer’s market and pick up some spinach, kale, carrots, beets, garlic – it really promotes great health. But I love good food, too.”
Believe it or not, Lenny also struggles with eating healthy like the rest of us. He also told the magazine, “There’s a big, fat, greasy man inside of me. I live in Paris half the year, and I love indulging in pastries and fine foods and wine and Champagne. If I do cheat, it’s usually with something pretty outrageous. Then I get it out of my system and get back to trying to stay fit.”
Whether this raw diet is a temporary detox or a permanent lifestyle change, taking this journey will only improve his health in the long run.
“Eating raw food is the most efficient way to absorb nutrients in the body that gives an opportunity for the body to do exactly what it was designed to do – heal itself,” said Marquese Martin-Hayes, certified raw vegan nutrition specialist and the founder of The Proper Physique.
“When you start giving your body raw living food, abnormality leaves and weight loss is a natural byproduct of good health,” explained Martin-Hayes.
Of course, there are folks who say eating raw is just too darn expensive and we all aren’t celebrities with chefs, as one of Lenny’s Facebook’s fans commented. Chef Ahki, celebrity chef and CEO of Delicious Indigenous Foods, has cooked for Lenny Kravitz and argues that, “When people mention how expensive or costly healthy food is, all I can say to that is, which is cheaper? Healthy edibles or long-term treatments and medications for colon disease, heart problems and cancers?”
With food for thought THAT raw, we all might want to consider joining Lenny on this journey.
