Snoop Dogg may be seen as the guy who is all about the party lifestyle on his records and in music videos talking about “gin and juice.” But behind closed doors, he’s really a family man. Snoop and his wife, Shante Broadus, celebrated their 26th wedding anniversary this June.
Broadus has been with her husband since high school and the two have battled through a lot of ups and downs. After the two almost divorced a few years ago, they found love together once again. They overcame one of their children being diagnosed with lupus and Snoop hasn’t been the only one to deal with legal issues.
Snoop and Broadus filed for divorce in 2004, but the artist briefly known as Snoop Lion canceled the proceedings, telling MTV, why he realized that a divorce wasn’t the option God wanted for him or his wife.
“I was trying to get a divorce, but I went back home and I fell back in love with my wife and kids,” admits Snoop. “A lot of times you get cloudy. This music industry is a mother, man, and it’ll take your vision and blur it. But God is good, so I understand that I need my wife and my kids in my life — so I threw the papers away. I don’t want to get a divorce.
So if you hear about a divorce, it’ll be my wife divorcing me; it won’t be me divorcing her. … And I made a mistake, so I’m trying to get back right.
Snoop admitted to being too caught up in the Hollywood scene, the girls, and the partying, rather than his wife. Fortunately, he realized that what he had with his wife was irreplaceable.

The couple renewed their wedding vows on January 12, 2008 on Charlie Wilson’s 20-acre ranch.
The vow renewal was a surprise for Shante, but their 200 guests were fully aware of the plan. Snoop told Larry King how he got his wife back:
“A whole lot of begging and pleading … it was up to me to try to put it back together,” admitted Broadus. “Because…
... I’m the one who said I didn’t want to be a part of it no more … It’s hard now to this day.
It’s still hard because there’s a lot of, you know — there’s a lot of roller coaster to a relationship.
You know, we’ve been together for years.
But, at the same time, it’s like, you know, some people in life are chosen for you.
And I feel like we’re chosen for each other."
When Snoop had his reality show, Snoop's Father Hood, he opened up about the relationship he has with his wife.
Because Snoop often raps about girls and sex, it may make a woman feel insecure, so whenever he calls a woman “boo” in his songs, it’s in honor of his wife.
Shante Broadus is also known as “Boss Lady.”
