The smoothie bowl is packed with vitamins and nutrients and is a great boost to your morning. So, how exactly do you make this smoothie bowl? Keep scrolling and I’ll give you the rundown on how you can have some adult fun making your own festive smoothie bowl.
The main components of a smoothie bowl are the base, liquids, protein, and toppings.
Base
The base of the smoothie bowl is simply the smoothie itself. Smoothies have a thicker consistency which make it easy to eat it out of a bowl. You can choose to have a base of just fruit, vegetables, or a mix of fruits and vegetables. You can use fresh or frozen fruit to make your base. I have always been a fan of fresh fruit, but found that frozen fruit is more convenient. However, I do add fresh fruit as my toppings.
Liquid
The liquids are part of the base. When making your base you have the choice to use water, coconut water, hemp milk, soy milk, almond milk or any other variation of nut milk.
Protein
There are many options for protein such as chia seeds, flax seeds, oats, hemp seeds, nut butters, and protein powders.
Sweeteners
The sweeteners can be added to the base of your smoothie or drizzled on top. You have the choice of agave, honey, cocoa powder, and maple syrup.
Toppings
Here is where the smoothies bowls get festive and your creativity comes into play. There are so many toppings to choose from. Add sliced fruit, dried fruit, shaved coconut, hazelnut spread, chia seeds, flax seeds, granola, almonds, walnuts, sunflower seeds, goji berries, and hemp seeds.
This specific smoothie bowl is an açaí bowl which consists of frozen açaí. Açaí is a berry high in antioxidants and fiber, and boost your immune system and energy. There is a saying, “the blacker the berry, the sweeter the juice.” Well, the darker the berry, the healthier it is. Açaí berries “holds ten times the amount of vitamins in grapes, and two times the number of blueberries.” Goji berries which are high in protein, fiber, and antioxidants, they boost the immune system and are an anti-aging agent.
