5 Ways To Detox Your Scalp For Healthier Hair

Do you have dry, itchy scalp, bogged down with dandruff or are you lusting for length? No matter your hair woe, there are a variety of effective at-home detox recipes that can help give you the look you're dreaming of. It all starts with having healthy hair.

Here are five ways to detox your scalp (from the comfort of your home) for a healthier coif.

To Deep Clean

Ingredients:

1 teaspoon olive oil
2 teaspoons baking soda
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

Directions:

Separate the hair into small sections. Gently massage treatment (in circular motions) into the scalp. Cover with a shower cap and let sit for 10-15 minutes. Shampoo, condition and style as desired.

To Nourish and Strengthen

Ingredients:

1 egg
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 tablespoons avocado oil.
2 tablespoons sunflower oil
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar

Directions:

Mix ingredients in a blender. Apply the mixture to wet hair. Massage thoroughly into the hair paying close attention to the ends. Let the mixture sit on hair for 1 to 2 minutes and rinse.

For Damaged Hair

Ingredients:

¼ cup of olive oil
¼ cup avocado oil
¼ cup sunflower oil
1 tablespoon of your favorite conditioner

Before proceeding, for longer locks, double the recipe.

Directions:

Combine ingredients in a glass container. Bring a pan of water to a boil and remove from heat. Place glass container containing ingredients in the pan. Let the solution sit in the hot water for 5 minutes before removing it.

Apply generously to the hair, paying close attention to the scalp and ends. Place a shower cap on the hair for 5 to 20 minutes depending on the damage. Remove the shower cap and rinse.

To Rejuvenate the Scalp

Ingredients:

½ cup bentonite clay (for oil hair) or rhassoul clay (for normal to dry hair)
4 to 6 ounces of distilled water
2 drops lavender oil (optional)

Directions:

Mix the ingredients until they create a paste. Cover the scalp and hair generously. Let the concoction sit for about 30 minutes. Rinse with lukewarm water

To Remove Buildup

Ingredients:

2 teaspoons baking soda
1 cup of lukewarm water (for mid-length hair)

Directions:

Dissolve baking soda in lukewarm water. Pour slowly over your head and massage the scalp, ensuring to work through to the ends. After several minutes, rinse.
