Room Temp Vs Cold Water: Which Is Better?

5 glasses of waterThe longstanding debate is which water is better for you to drink: cold or room temperature? The truth is you just need to drink water and more of it. Water is great for weight loss because it has 0 calories. For example, switching your morning orange juice for a glass of water every day for a year would save you more than 40,000 calories annually, which is equivalent to almost 12 pounds of fat. Some people swear by cold water and some swear by room temperature but let’s end this debate once and for all.

The temperature of the water which is better for you…depends on what you are doing. Yep! Are you exercising and drinking water? Are you about to sing a song at church? Are you sitting at your desk? Are you just trying to hydrate more so you are drinking water during the day?
What exactly are you drinking water for and what are you doing while you drink it?
Cold Water
The human body is 98.6 degrees internally. So when you drink cold water your body uses energy to increase the temperature of the water to balance out where your body needs it to be for functional use. According to the University of Washington, your body warming a cup of water burns around 8 calories. So if you're drinking lots of ice water throughout the day -- say 8 cups -- you'd burn about 64 extra calories.
For my exercisers cold water may be better for you. One of the major reasons is because it’s more refreshing so it will lead you to consume more. The other reason is that is cools you down so you can exercise longer. A study published in the Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition compared room temperature water and cold water during workouts. Researchers found participants who consumed cold water were able to keep their core temperature down 50% longer than the group consuming room temperature water.
Room Temperature Water
Warmer water helps detox the body better than cold water and also helps with digestion. Drinking cold water with a meal can have adverse effects on the digestive process. While eating a meal, cold water is not the best choice because it requires more energy from the body to warm up cool liquids and foods, thus taking a longer time to digest and assimilate.
For faster absorption and general hydration, room temp is the better bet. Sedentary individuals should drink more room temperature water. When you are drinking water to increase the amount of water you drink in a day then go with room temperature over cold. Room temperature water is more readily available to the body for hydration, and it takes less energy and time for the body to use.  Singers generally drink room temp water because cold water can disrupt one's vocal cords. In conclusion, water is the most important substance in life. In fact, a new life cannot even be born without first the “breaking of water. Water circulates through the Earth just as it does through the human body, transporting, dissolving, replenishing nutrients and organic matter, while carrying away waste material. So, analyze this article but honestly you just need to drink more water.
