Women AND Men: 3 Herbs that Detox Your Private Parts

MEN:

The penis is actually a sensitive tissue composed of blood vessels – veins and arteries, as well as nerves. When a man is having an erection, blood rushes to the blood vessels, making it hard and erect. The corposa cavernosa, the main chamber within the penis where the majority of blood circulates, is the main component in penile erection.

For a man to maintain a healthy erection, he must make sure that blood circulating to the area is free from blocking substances such as cholesterol and fat.

Your diet plays a major role in all of this, so you may need to detox "down there" in order to clean out bad things you've been taking in, increase your blood and boost your stamina.  Here are three natural ways to do it:

1. Blackberries

Blackberries are rich in antioxidants and fiber. Anti-oxidants help the body get rid of free radicals while fiber flushes toxins out of the body. Here's a quick mix:
¼ k blackberries
2 tbsp grade b maple syrup
1 L distilled water

2. Beetroot Juice

Beetroot juice is high in NO3, a nitrate. Nitrates are vasodilators, that is, they open (dilate) the vascular system (blood vessels and capillaries). When your blood vessels open wider, you have increased blood flow throughout the body.

Increased and improved blood flow throughout the body confers many health and performance related benefits.
Here's the quick mix to blend and drink:

1/2 of a medium-sized beet
1 apple, orange, or pear
3 carrots

3. Probiotics

Probiotics found in natural greek yogurt or just plain natural probiotic pills will do. Another option is Young Coconut Kefir. Drink this delicious probiotic-rich fermented drink and you'll cut sugar cravings, boost your energy and immunity and create younger looking skin to boot! It is an excellent source of potassium and a very good source of natural sodium.
Here's a few honorable mentions that will also help "down there":
Chamomile - A traditional remedy for stress and anxiety, chamomile acts as a diuretic and nerve tonic.
Juniper Berry - Acts as a diuretic, anti-inflamatory, and decongestant. Very useful in helping to regulate blood sugar levels.

Ligustrum Berry - Ligustrum Berry nourishes and tones the liver and kidneys and increases blood circulation.

Licorice Root - Licorice root fights inflammation and viral, bacterial and parasitic infection. Cleanses the colon, and enhances microcirculation in the gastrointestinal lining.

Milk Thistle Seed - Also called Mary Thistle, Milk Thistle protects the liver from toxins and pollutants by preventing free radical damage and stimulating the production of new liver cells.

Turmeric Tuber -Used throughout Southeast Asia and India for thousands of years, Turmeric has been shown to aid circulation, lower cholesterol, and improve blood vessel health. Healers have used Tumeric for years for the treatment of obesity, as it is said to cut the fat from the blood.

WOMEN:

It's been said the more healthy your vagina is, the happier your vagina will be. With that said, start your year, month or day off by making sure "down there" is healthy. Here are a few natural herbs.

1. Tea Tree Oil

Tea tree oil is a natural anti-fungal and incredibly healing for candida or thrush, as well as other skin or hair conditions. Adding a couple of drops of tea tree oil to a tampon is one of the most quickest and efficient ways to ease infection symptoms. A little goes a long way, so only add 3-5 drops of tea tree oil into a half a cup of water, soak the tampon and then insert for 2-3 hours then remove. Repeat twice a day until the infection clears.

2. Marigold

Marigold is a good cleansing herb that can be used to support uterine health according to "Essential Herbal Wisdom," by Nancy Arrowsmith. The fact that it has cleansing qualities but does not irritate mucous membranes makes it especially useful for a hardened uterus. You should try drinking marigold tea, or combining marigold and chamomile in tea. Both can help regulate menstrual bleeding and ease cramps. It should be used for a week prior to menstruation for this purpose, Arrowsmith advises. Avoid marigold if you are pregnant.

3. Motherwort

Motherwort, which may help your uterus contract after giving birth, is used in traditional Chinese medicine to treat menopausal and menstrual symptoms. The uterotonic, or uterus stimulating, component in motherwort is called leonurine, which is present in the herb's leaves according to Y.C. Kong, lead author of a study published in the American Journal of Chinese Medicine.

Other studies published in Anticancer Research indicate that motherwort may have an effect against mammary cancer as well.

Honorable Mention: Ginger

Ginger reduces inflammation while increasing oxygen and blood flow to your uterus, say Asa Hershoff and Andrea Rotelli in "Herbal Remedies." Ginger is actually a good whole-body detoxifier because it supports liver function, boosts circulation, and promotes healthy sweating, says Ann Louise Gittleman, author of "The Fat Flush Foods." It is safe to take during pregnancy and is in fact a proven remedy for nausea in pregnant women according to the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine.
