Have you ever had the urge to get up and go somewhere different for 24 hours? I remember waking up and all I could think about was travel. I started looking at trips I could take in the future but then quickly stopped myself and asked, “why can’t I travel somewhere right now?”.
With a bit of spontaneity guiding my every move, I called my significant other and decided to take a road trip to Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. I quickly researched the price of a hotel, transportation costs, and food options and came to the conclusion that Lake Geneva would be the best place to iron out my thoughts and detox from the bustle of city life.
Let the adventure begin! Or should I just say unrestricted relaxation? Every trip doesn’t have to include exotic adventures and heart-throbbing action. Sometimes less is more and I enjoyed the luxury of letting my thoughts flow at their own pace.
As soon as we settled into Lake Geneva after our two-hour drive, we had to explore the food options. The restaurant adjacent to our hotel, Sprecher’s Restaurant & Pub”, met my food desires and I felt rejuvenated. I ordered the Grilled Salmon topped with seasoned lemon butter. It was served with cranberry pecan rice and Chef’s sophisticated blend of vegetables. Delicious and nourishing!
Then, we explored Lake Geneva’s scenic trails. It was breathtaking and an ideal space for relaxation and rejuvenation. The 21-mile walking path is perfect for reflection and goal-setting. As we passed by the calm lakeside neighborhoods and admired the beautifully crafted homes and estates, we couldn’t help but to release any tension within us.
The people we passed during our walk were so welcoming and everyone just seemed to be at peace like a scene from a meditation experience. The views were so lovely and captivating. Everything around you just takes you to another place.
After an hour of walking, we just sat and stared at the boats as they left the harbor. The water kept flowing and kept its gentle demeanor no matter what was going on in and around it. We watched all the beautiful creatures of nature move in the most graceful way. There was such a visible worry-free culture in Lake Geneva that made you embrace all of life’s treasures.
Before the sunset, we made sure to take a stroll in the town to see more of this leisure city. There were cozy mom and pop local shops, restaurants, boutiques, and ice cream parlors lined up on the sidewalks. Of course, I had to grab my favorite flavors of ice cream and sit outside to engage in people-watching.
As we walked back to our apartment-style hotel, we discussed our spontaneous trip to Lake Geneva and whether this experience met our expectations. We both agreed that this was a great wellness trio. As millennials who desire to achieve great things and make a positive impact in the world, it’s so important to nurture our mental health and engage in activities that reconnect us with your deepest desires.
So if you’re looking to get away from the city life without breaking the pockets, don’t hesitate to explore the comfort of Lake Geneva. It may be exactly what you need to reawaken your passions.
