Do you remember Popeye and his obsession with spinach? Well, there's a reason for this.

During the mid-1980's a cartoon by the name of Popeye used to be a childhood favorite for many.  The main character, Popeye was relatively skinny and would get picked on from time to time.  But when he would get into a jam and would need some added strength, Popeye would literally pop open a can of spinach and instantly get transformed into a muscle-bound man.  While that might have been an animated adventure, there is some truth to muscle benefits of spinach.  See below:

1. Digestion

  • Everyone talks about the benefits of spinach in nourishing the eyes and building bones. What few know is that it also very good for digestion. Spinach eases constipation and protects the mucus lining of the stomach, so that you stay free of ulcers. 2. Skin Care

  • Another lesser known benefit of spinach is its role in skin care. The bounty of vitamins and minerals in spinach can bring you quick relief from dry, itchy skin and lavish you with a radiant complexion. 3. Muscle Mass
