Benefits Of Pink Himalayan Salt

pink himalayan sea saltThose pretty pink rock-filled spice jars at your local market are more than just something for you to admire…it’s salt! If those pink rocks look far from familiar, you probably didn’t even realize they ARE edible. To add even more to the surprise, the salt isn’t just pretty; it’s healthier for you and some say it tastes better. This product is called Himalayan pink salt. It’s super healthy and the trend is slowly catching on. Take a minute and think over these several health benefits that pink salt provides and maybe it will win you over.

It is pure and unprocessed.

White salt is processed several times for the look and the taste. Himalayan pink salt is pink because it is natural, un-tampered with, and certainly not bleached or dyed with color. It is essentially pure and as clean as foods come.

Sodium intake is reduced by switching to pink salt.

Pink salt crystals are larger than the more compact white table salt, and therefore you will naturally consume less with each spoonful comparatively. So for obvious reasons, you will consume less sodium this way.

The taste is more savory.

Himalayan pink salt does not contain iodine, like the more common white table salt. Iodine is said to have a more chemical like taste, which in large amounts can be unappetizing.

It can balance your pH levels.

Your pH levels can be balanced with the help of trace minerals found in pink salt. Table salt contains these minerals as well, but in very small concentrations.

Himalayan salt assists with nutrient absorption.

Sea salt is treated with an anti-caking agent that is hard for the human body to absorb and break down. Not only does pink salt not use any of that, but it also contains some minerals that helps to better absorb nutrients.

Hydration can be increased.

Sodium Chloride is found in table salt, and can leave you extremely dehydrated due to the necessity of an enormous amount of water to break it down. Also, “If the sodium chloride is too high, re-crystallization of the table salt takes place. It poisons the system because those substances cannot be eliminated,” according to Walt Ingvolstad, a Natural Health Therapist and Coach.

It is obvious how much you are using.

Once you sprinkle table salt onto your food, it disappears. It’s even hard to see as it comes out of the shaker so you are never really sure how much you are using. Pink salt is very conspicuous to the naked eye so make no mistake; you’ll know how much you’re consuming.

There's healing vibrational energy.

There is a reason why Himalayan pink salt is found outside so many yoga studios and meditation centers. Amongst those healing places, it is known that the unique structure of pink salt holds vibrational energy. The best way to reap these benefits is to just eat it.

It’s good for your fish dishes.

You might already turn to sea salt for your fish meals at home. However, even sea salt has become more processed recently just as table salt has. Pink salt is just as attractive to your taste buds on fish, minus the chemicals.

Pink salt has antimicrobial properties.

Pink salt kills pathogenic microorganisms. Serving pink salt on raw fish is one of the cleanest and safest ways to eat it.

It's available in slab form.

A pink salt slab is versatile in that it can be heated up or used cold and can smother your food entirely in its taste. The cleanup is simple as it can just be scrubbed down after use and it is extremely flavor enhancing.

Your bones will appreciate the extra calcium.

Pink salt has a higher calcium content than table salt. Calcium is the main ingredient in building strong bones.

Texture

Pink salt can add texture and pop to a meal that can usually be mushy. You can liven up your next dish of sautéed spinach or steamed fish with pink salt for a good, solid crunch when you bite into it.
