Singer and actress, Halle Bailey, recently welcomed a precious bundle of joy into her life with her boyfriend, rapper DDG. Their first child, a son named Halo, has brought immense joy to the couple.
Bailey shared the heartwarming news on Instagram, accompanying it with a touching photo of her hand holding her newborn son's hand, which was adorned with a delicate gold bracelet bearing the name "Halo." In her caption, she expressed her gratitude for the arrival of her son, calling him her "halo" and expressing her excitement for the world to know him.
"Even though we’re a few days into the new year, the greatest thing that 2023 could have done for me, was bring me my son.. welcome to the world my halo 🥰👼🏽 ✨the world is desperate to know you 😉🤣♥️," she captioned the photo.
DDG also spoke on the birth of his son, with the same photo on his Instagram on Saturday, writing, “my biggest blessing by far” and that he’s “never been so in love.”
"The Color Purple" actress and DDG, have been together for over a year, making their relationship public in March 2022.
In a previous interview with PEOPLE, Bailey spoke about her relationship with DDG, describing it as a transformative experience that has inspired her upcoming solo album.
"You know, you have puppy love experiences, you think that’s love. But this is my first deep, deep, real love," the singer said of her relationship with DDG.
“This has been a really beautiful transformative time for me. I have all this new material to write about,” the R&B star continued. “It’s like, What the heck did I just experience and go through? A whirlwind of amazingness. You never know what you’re capable of until you’re put through it. I was very creatively inspired, and then from there, I fell in love. And so I really just played with those themes in my music.”
In a British Vogue interview in 2022, Bailey also opened up about how her relationship has allowed her to embrace womanhood.
“I like all of the scary feelings that come with that. I like the suspense, the not knowing what’s going to happen, and I feel like that’s what I’m supposed to be going through in womanhood,” she said.
Despite her celebrity status, Bailey has maintained a private personal life and had not confirmed her pregnancy until now despite speculation from fans.
Although she never directly discussed her pregnancy, Bailey has responded to comments from fans.
In November, Bailey responded to a fan on Snapchat who alleged that she had a "pregnancy nose" in a recent photo.
"Listen, if I see one more person say something about my nose one more time, it's going to be hell to pay," the 23-year-old singer shared in a video. "You know why? Because I'm Black. I love my nose. What are you concerned about my nose for? Leave me the hell alone."
Last year, the "Angel" singer credited her ability to prioritize her mental health to growing up in the public eye and touring with her older sister, Chloe, at 13.
"We would constantly be in a different place like every other day, and I would have to be doing school on the road," she says. "Those are like the years we're like, starting to feel all these emotions and you get your period. And it's like, 'Wow, what is happening?'" she says adding that the time was a formative period for her mental health. "It was just a priority for me that I had to learn how to organize the compartments in my brain, especially when you have a lot going on."
As we eagerly anticipate more updates on this beautiful journey, we join Halle Bailey and DDG in celebrating the arrival of their little Halo and wish them all the happiness in the world as they embrace this new adventure together.
