Happy Galentine’s Day! 5 Ways To Celebrate Valentine’s Day With Your Girls

Black women dancing and hanging out.Galentine's day is around the corner and it's the perfect twist to Valentine's Day.

You no longer have to sulk in your bed while devouring a gallon of mint chocolate chip ice cream alone. You can grab a box of assorted chocolates with your girls instead of while wishing you had someone to celebrate Valentine’s Day with.

This is the world we live in thanks to the once fictional celebration on a sitcom.

Although it started off as a made-up holiday, the sentiment behind celebrating female friendship was too powerful to let go, and now, women everywhere have been celebrating Galentine’s Day since then.

Whether you’re single and not ready to mingle, or you already have your Valentine’s Day plans set with your boo, there’s something special about getting together with your best girls and showing each other some love.

So, if you’ve never experienced the beauty of celebrating Galentine’s Day with your besties, here are five ways to create an enjoyable and memorable experience with your girls.

1. Give Galentine's Day Gifts

Surprise your girlfriends with a little something that shows your appreciation of them.

Maybe pick up a gift card to their favorite clothing store, treat them to a book off of their Amazon wishlist or buy them something from a small black-owned business that you’d think they’d love.

2. Slumber Party

Remember the sleepovers we sometimes took part in when we were younger?

Well, they get better as we get older. Decorate your house with fresh flowers, show off your culinary skills by putting together one of your favorite recipes and whip up some of your favorite cocktails.

Have everyone wear a certain color set of pajamas or create a theme that everyone has to stick to; binge watch your favorite shows as though you haven’t already seen every episode and play a game of Black Card Revoked.

3. Girls Trip on Galentine's Day

Every now and then it’s nice to get away and spend some time catching up with each other.

Take a weekend getaway to the beach, take in some beautiful beachside yoga and be sure to grab brunch and sip on a few matcha lattes.

Wherever your girl's trip takes you, do something new with your girls and try pole dancing or a paint-and-sip class.

Afterwards, hit up a chill, local spot with a good DJ.

End the night doing all of your favorite line dances to the songs that every DJ seemingly plays when the spot is getting ready to shut down for the evening - those dances never get old and it’s always a good time.

4. Spa Day

Inhale good energy and exhale your stress away at the spa with your girlfriends.

Treat yourselves to a well-deserved luxurious spa complete with manicures, salt scrub pedicures, facials, and massages or create a DIY spa experience at your home or someone else’s. Either way, enjoy a relaxing self-care moment.

5. Fancy Dinner

Go all out and pull out that little black dress you bought a while ago, pair it with some cute heels and head out to a fancy dinner planned especially for you and your girls.

Go to the hot rooftop restaurant that you’ve been eyeing for a while and wine and dine yourselves all night.

No matter how you choose to celebrate Galentine’s Day this year, take a moment to show your best girlfriends your appreciation of their friendship and let them know that they are awesome and they are loved.

How do you plan on celebrating Galentine’s Day this year?
