Summer brings sunny days, fun nights, and quality time outside. But for those with oily skin, it can also mean an oily mess.
As the weather begins to warm up again, here’s how you can take care of your oily skin and feel your best this summer!
During the late spring and summer months, the humidity begins to increase which causes the skin to produce more sebum. Consequently, the skin begins to feel more oily and appears shinier.
While this can give a natural glow to some, it can become uncomfortable for those with oilier skin.
While depriving your skin of moisture may seem like the natural combative measure, it can actually make your skin produce more sebum, and you guessed it, become more oily. Instead, try these tips during the summer to keep your skin looking fresh and glowy.
Keep Your Skin Adequately Cleansed (but don’t go overboard!): Washing your face with a gentle moisturizer twice a day removes any impurities and keeps your face clean. For those with oily skin, sulfur face washes are recommended to help control oil.
While you may feel the urge to “wash off the oil” several times a day, keep it to the minimum of once in the morning and once in the evening. If you feel like your face needs to be purified or cleaned, opt for a face mist or toner to refresh your skin.
Moisturize and Use SPF!: This is one of the most important steps! Neglecting to moisturize your skin is actually counterintuitive. Instead, make sure to give your skin moisture at the beginning of the day with an oil-free moisturizer with SPF.
