BDO: What does it mean to eat clean?
Dr. Smith: Eating clean simply means reducing the amount of processed ingredients that are typically added to so many of our foods. Think of it as eating food as close to possible to how it came off the tree or out of the ground. Manufacturers are constantly processing and adding synthetic ingredients to our foods, altering their natural state and reducing their levels of nourishment.
