Jill Scott: “The One Thing I’ll Never Be…”

jill scott weight loss

Stunning singer and actress Jill Scott has always been beautiful.

From her high school pictures to her now being a divorcee with a son, she is still a voluptuous picture of beauty.

No matter where you make catch a glimpse of her, you may think she's bigger one minute and not-so-plus-size the next, but the Philly native will say one thing that she'll never be.

Back in the third quarter of 2014, pictures surfaced of what some were claiming to be the famous "Jilly from Philly", um, naked.

One of the two pictures that were floating around was shut down with Jill saying that she wished her thighs didn't touch.

But the other was Jill in a robe showing the slimmed-down figure that has been much talked about the entire year.

Scott was at her fittest weight in over 20 years and fans are going crazy over her new size.

Back then, she had lost over 63 pounds and continued to redefine her body. Now, she embraces her body even more, especially her beautiful, womanly curves.

When speaking about her exercise routine, Jill says that she does 60 minutes of cardio and strength-training exercises three times a week with her trainer, Scott Parker.

It comes in the form of kickboxing, boxing, and biking outdoors. Her favorite is biking outdoors because she can bring her son along.

"We have fun!" She adds that while she's happy about the weight loss, she's not trying to change her womanly curves.

"I'll never be a stick figure," she says, but will keep up with her healthy lifestyle.

Scott made it clear that she works out at her own pace. She confessed, “I’d walk up nine steps and be out of breath.” As for her new meal plan, Jill notes that it consists of three low-fat meals and two snacks per day.

Much of her openness to a leaner diet and workout regimen is fueled by her son, Jett. Jill said, "There's a world of discovery in his eyes, and I want to be around to enjoy it!"

Jill added that she even brings Jett along for some of the workouts.

Like so many other female entertainers, Scott noted that she’s faced the pressures of body image, which is something she’s increasingly grown used to over the course of her career.

“I’ve enjoyed my shares of ‘woo-hoos’ on the street. I’ve enjoyed the company that I’ve kept, and I think I’ve learned over the years that it’s more important to be comfortable with yourself than whatever anybody else has to say,” she said.

“It can be a challenge when you don’t look like anybody on the magazine cover.

It can feel alienating, but every woman, in my opinion, has their own power.”

“I’ve seen women — where someone else would describe as a ‘stick figure’ – carry more grace and be sexier in her simple elegance than a full-figured, curvy girl,” she continued.

“I’ve seen curvy girls that cower in their skin.

And it’s really about acceptance of one’s self. Men are drawn to confidence.

People are drawn to confidence. So I believe whole-heartedly, it’s about how you carry yourself.”

Jilly from Philly may never be model thin, but her beautiful curves, her confidence in who she is, and her soulful, melodic voice will draw crowds for years to come!
